As opposed to “women’s restroom”?

When you think about it, “female toilet” doesn’t make much sense at all, does it?

If by ‘making sense’ you mean ‘effective communication without bias’, no.

But as others have observed, of all the ways that one group has systematically mistreated another, none is more deeply rooted than the way men have subordinated women. So in that context, maybe a Freudian compulsion is subliminally at work.

All other discriminations pale because they tend to be overt. But women have always had lower status than men. Where’s the sign from? It’s worse in different cultures.

The inequality: Women, who comprise over half the world’s population, do 2/3 of the world’s work, earn 1/10th of the world’s income and own 1/100th of the world’s property. That’s a status in the toilet. It’s wrong, alright. And makes no ’sense’.
